NBA Updates: Kings demolished Grizzlies

Domantas Sabonis finished his way to triple-double as the Sacramento demolished Memphis Grizzlies who were currently missing the service of Ja Morant. Sabonis dominated Jar Jackson Jr., as he tallied 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists to make his way to sixth triple-double of the 2022-2023 season to help Kings win their seventh in their last eight outings. Trey Lyles added a valuable contribution of 24 points and filling the void on defense for the team by putting pressure on the other scoring options on the Grizzlies, giving the Kings a chance to knocked down a franchise record of 12 three-pointers and securing a double-digit in the first half, and then almost losing it in the third, then made an impressive run to end the match with a 33 points commanding victory.

Grizzlies also missed the action of their veteran center Steven Adams due to a sore right knee. Despite that, the visitors managed to put up a good fight, cutting the double-digit lead in the second half and hanging within 103-96 with 9:59 remaining. But Domantas Sabonis did not want to blow out the lead and fall to a comeback by the visitors as he had made an empathic two dunks of the Kings’ four dunks and a 1-point flurry that really gave the game to the host 119-96.

Harrison Barnes and Trey Lyles continued the rampage as they both added valuable three points to the run, giving Sacramento a 22 made shots out of 40 from the 3-point territory. Lyles, a former Spurs, hit six 3-pointers that accounts for most of his 24 points, while Barnes had a hot shooting night by burying six that composed the majority of his 20 points to salvage Kings – Grizzlies season series to 2-2.

The Kings rookie also registered 20 points and nine rebounds while the primary point guard De’Aaron Fox finished with 17 points and 10 assists and Monk 13 which improved to a 7-3 in home games this season. On the other side, Desmond Bane carried the load and paced Memphis with his 21 points, while Tyus Jones had 12 points, eight assists, and six rebounds to contribute in a losing effort.

The main shooter of Kings in Kevin Huerter experienced a night he will forget despite a blowout 33-point win as he just finished the night with just 5 points on seven field goal attempts, and Huerter uncharacteristically missed several easy shots around the rim. Turnovers also killed this victory for the Kings, as they are obviously not a disciplined team as they have several hiccups of turnovers in important minutes of the match. Domantas Sabonis recorded eight turnovers, De’Aaron Fox added six of his own, and seven of the nine non-garbage time minute players posted at least one turnover.

Overall, this was a convincing win for the Kings who now up in the Western Conference standing with third seed behind Grizzlies and Nuggets and a 27-19 record. This is so far the best and the most promising season for the King looking to end their playoff drought that almost lasted for a couple of decades.
