Vinicius Jr once again became the target of racism

This is not the first time in this season that Vinicius Jr became the subject of racial abuse while playing for Real Madrid. In September last year, Vinicius Jr was subjected to a vile chant during Real Madrid’s victory against Atletico Madrid. 

Just before the 2022 ends, Vinicius Jr once again subject to racism as Real Valladolid fans were filmed making monkey noises towards the Brazilian midfielder walking around the pitch in front of the home crowd. The 22 year-old was seen furious towards the discriminatory action of Valladolid fans and pointed towards the lack of action from La Liga. Real Valladolid issued a statement condemning the incident as they expressed their disappointments and they confirmed that an investigation already began to search for the identity of those involved in the incident.

“Real Valladolid absolutely condemns any form of racism and regrets very much what happened [at the Real Madrid match]. The Club is, of course, ready to cooperate with LaLiga to carry out the relevant investigations, and reserves the right to take disciplinary measures in case there are subscribers involved in the incidents,” Real Valladolid cited in their statement, implemented a full action and an investigation to search for people involved in racism incident. 

“There is no room for racism in football and society, so Real Valladolid is determined to implement more and more measures to raise awareness, avoid and combat any similar episode. These isolated incidents do not represent the vast majority of white and violent fans, always respectful, and yesterday participants in a beautiful show in the stands of Zorilla.”
