The team up of Nadal and Federer in the Laver Cup ended with a disappointing loss over the American duo of John Sock and Francis Tiafoe with a scoreline of 6-4, 6-7, 9-11. “Yeah, of course I’m disappointed. I was on the team, almost lost my voice and my hands hurt from clapping,” the 41-year-old admitted. “We wish the result would be different. I told Andy [Murray] in the locker room, I don’t like losing. It’s not fun. It just leaves not the best taste, you know. I think once you have been there and taste success, it’s just not the same.” The Swiss still hope to take home the Laver Cup trophy on the final day and add this final trophy in his legendary resume. 

Auger Aliassime and Frances Tiafoe had other plans as they became the key pieces to help Team World clinched the first Laver Cup trophy. Aliassime and Sock beat Murray and Berrettini followed by Aliassime stunned Djokovic in Men’s singles and Tiafoe defeated Tsitsipas to nail the final dagger to defeat Team Europe with a come from behind wins in the final day of the tournament. After the tournament, Tiafoe expressed his happiness by joking: “[Federer] has got a lot to apologize for in the last 24 years (after) beating everybody on the tour.” 

Federer responds, “No, I won’t apologize, but I will say thank you for having me in this amazing event, you know, what he’s done for the game, also say thank you for what he did for the game. He’s a class act/ Happy to know him, happy to call him a friend, happy to call him a colleague and best wishes in his second act, but I will not apologize,’ he said from a reliable news source.

Frances Tiafoe clinched Laver Cup for Team World

The tournament concluded with Team World lifting the Laver Cup trophy and after both teams lifted Federer as an act of tribute to what the Swiss Legend has done for the sport. 

Frances Tiafoe helped Team World lift the Laver Cup over Team Europe after edging Stefanos Tsitsipas 1-6, 7-6 (11), 10-8. 

The Swiss tennis icon could not hide his disbelief after he witnessed Taifoe ripping his chance of one final trophy at this weekend’s Laver Cup. This three-day event of Laver Cup in London brought an exciting final day of the tournament as Team World made an outstanding comeback from a 4-8 deficit to 13-8, edging Team Europe and denied Federer ’s one final trophy to be added in his legendary career.  

Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime and Jack Sock started the comeback and reduced the deficit with a convincing victory over Berrettini and Murray, the scores improved to 7-8. The Serbs Novak Djokovic had a clash against Canadian Auger-Aliassime, and routed the contending Serbs with a scoreline of 6-3, 7-6 to lift Team World 10-8. 

The Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas must beat Frances Tiafoe in order to keep Team Europe’s contention for Laver Cup trophy alive and bring Team Europe to a decisive match. The match turned into the favor of the American, beating the Greek 1-6, 7-6, 10-8 in an almost two hours matchup to give Team World the Laver Cup trophy and ended the streak for Team Europe.
