Mohammed Salisu scored the opening goal of the match and the one who sparked the Black Stars’ run in the first half as he successfully kicked the ball into the back of the net after an unsuccessful free kick and a header. The second goal was a brilliant header by the 22 year-old rising star to double the lead for Ghana to end the first half with all the momentum was on the Ghanian sides.

In the second half, South Korea made huge adjustments by making more aggressive attacks on the goal box of Ghana, and it worked as Cho Gue-sung made three identical headers, two went at the back of the net and rattled Ghana, as they caused another alert of an incredible comeback in the World Cup.

However, Ghana had a rising reliable star on their squad that they could depend on again, Kudus converted a cross from midfielder Mensah with a clinical side-foot to put in for the finish in the 68th minute – a major lead and a goal-winner for Black Stars.

South Korea made a series of attempts to equalize the game but Lawrence Ati-Zigi did not waste the opportunity and the lead as he made an excellent blocking and saves against South Korean attackers. The South Korean applied some final minute pressures, zagging Ghanian defense and performed dangerous crosses, but failed to translate it.

With this win of Ghana, they are now just a win away from qualifying for the Round of 16 with a final group stage match against Uruguay, while South Korea will have a final group game against Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal.

South Korea Assistant Coach Sergio Costa addresses the media following a final minute confrontation between South Korean side and referee Anthony Taylor, after the English referee denied South Korea’s chance on a corner and given South Korean Head Coach Paulo Bento a red card after the confrontation that causes the frustration of Tottenham Star Son Heung-min calling it a “lack of justice.”

“The reaction is a reaction of a person and a group which feels a lack of fairness at the end of the match. It is a normal reaction of someone that did all they could to win, and were not able to do so. I believe we should be sad and feel a lack of justice at the end of this match,” Costa told reporters. “The result is totally unfair. Not even a tie was fair. We clearly deserved the win.”

Mohammed Kudus earned the Man of the Match following Ghana’s first win at this World Cup. The 22 year-old Ajax winger also earned the praise of his Ghana coach Otto Addo, “he is on the right track to be a great, great player, and I only have high praise for him. A big congratulations to the theme to be mentally that strong and to come back and score the third goal.”
