Pogba and Mkhitaryan secure Manchester United Champions League place next season
In an evening of physically demanding and emotionally draining 2-0 win over Ajax, Manchester United have earned Europa League trophy in Stockholm.
With the win served up to the club, Jose Mourinho’s men are guaranteed to go into the Champions League group stage on 2017/18.
Paul Pogba has set the Reds in lead with a deflected shot at the 18th minute of the match. Few minutes after the break, Henrikh Mkhitaryan flicked in from Chris Smalling’s header at a corner which confirmed that his side would add to the EFL Cup won against Southampton during early of the season.
As the final whistle sounded, the Reds’ celebration began where the crowds grew louder chanting “Manchester” at the Friends Arena—a tribute those who died and were injured in the recent stadium attack during Arianna Grande’s concert.
United are now the fifth team in row of clubs to claim the full quota of European trophies, joining the powerhouse of Ajax, Chelsea, Juventus, and Bayern Munich.
Manchester United have had their moments of frustrations this season, but after the thrilling night of battle against Ajax, the club can finally applaud themselves for steering a good season.
