Paris Saint Germain regained their Ligue 1 lead and title after a massive 7-1 victory over defending champions Monaco at Parc des Princes.
PSG’s campaign turned out to be a memorable one as play makers Giovani lo Celso and Angel di Maria managed to score twice alongside Edinson Cavani and Julian Draxler who were also on target.
Monaco’s Radamel Falcao scored an own goal. But Rony Lopes corrected this by slotting home a consolation for his side.
The result has put the Qatar owned PSG to have 17-point lead over the second-place Monaco.
Last season, the Red and Whites have been successful in claiming their first ever title in 17 years. The outstanding campaign was spearheaded by Falcao and the young French Kylian Mbappe.
Falcao remains with Monaco, while Mbappe initially joined PSG as an on loan for an amount of £166m but later officially signed a transfer contract.
Meanwhile, the Parisians exit from the Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid has sparked doubts over the club manager Unai Emery’s career with the team.
It is possible that Emery will leave the club at the end of the campaign, with ex-Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel strongly tipped to replace him.
Along with coach Emery’s potential departure, Neymar has also been the subject of headlines over the past few months.
Neymar joined PSG from Barcelona for a world record fee of £200m back in August and has scored 28 goals in 30 games across all competitions.
The Brizilian forward forwar missed the 7-1 win over Monaco due to a fractured metatarsal and sprained ankle that required him to undergo a surgery last February.
