Crystal Palace have further plunged into misery as Chris Wood lifted Burnley to a narrow 1-0 win at Turf Moor last weekend.
Wood seized on Lee Chung-Yong’s dreadful back pass and fired past goal keeper Wayne Hennessey three minutes after the match kicked off.
Palace responded to this through Christian Benkete who attempted to deliver a goal but his shot sailed the wrong side. His strike was blocked by Nick Pope. That one big chance could have turned into a goal. But the Eagles’ misfortune and Burnley’s good defending prevented this from unfolding.
Nevertheless, the visitors have had a relatively better performance as against to their previous matches in terms of territory, time of the ball, and chances created.
“I cannot believe we lost. There is still frustration about the result but not about our performance,” expressed Palace boss. But still, these weren’t enough to restrain the hosts.
Manager Frank de Boer’s side lacked composure and confidence which perhaps was due to the fact that the club hasn’t won any single game in the Premier League since the start of the season. Furthermore, Crystal Palace’s defeat leaves De Boer’s job hanging by a thread.
