Arsenal F.C. manager Arsene Wenger addressed that the club is now ready to open the Premier League season strong.
In their past seven season openers in the Premier League, Arsenal had won just one and Wenger will make sure to avoid a repeat of that when his team hosts Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium.
“It’s true that in recent years we have [often lost the opener], down to some special circumstances, sometimes because it’s after the World Cup or after the European Championship when we have many players who were not ready to start the season. So we have a good opportunity to show that we have had a good preparation and we are ready.” Wenger said
Take a look at Arsenal’s last seven opening days:
2010-11: Liverpool 1-1 Arsenal
2011-12: Newcastle 0-0 Arsenal
2012-13: Arsenal 0-0 Sunderland
2013-14: Arsenal 1-3 Aston Villa
2014-15: Arsenal 2-1 Crystal Palace
2015-16: Arsenal 0-2 West Ham
2016-17: Arsenal 3-4 Liverpool
