OKC Thunder

Despite of Russell Westbrook’s unbelievable triple-double, the OKC still failed to secure the win against the blazing Spurs. The former MVP finished the game with 24 points, 13 rebounds and a career-high 24 assists to match the most assists in a triple-double in league history. The other player who did that kind of score sheet was Isiah Thomas as he dished out 24 points, 24 assists and 10 rebound in a double-overtime game in 1985 for the Detroit Pistons. In addition, it is the most assist by any NBA player since Rajon Rondo had 25 for the New Orleans Pelicans last December 27, 2017. Meanwhile, Paul George posted 30 points and eight rebounds while Jerami Grant scored a career-high 25 points to go with 12 rebounds.

San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs did a great job to outlast the Thunder. In fact, they were in control for most of the game, hitting 14 straight 3-pointers – most by any team in the last 20 seasons, finishing 16-of-19 beyond the arc and led by as many as 13 points in the fourth quarter before the Thunder burst out a 17-4 run to tie it at 114, leading to a wild ending regulation. Meanwhile, it was a night to remember for LaMarcus Aldridge as he poured in a career-high 56 points to go along with nine rebounds and four blocks. He is also perfect from the free throw line with 16 of 16 with 20 of 33 shooting from the field.

Here’s what Aldridge told after the game: “I was just trying to be dominant down there. I got going early in the third. I felt good. I was just going.”

According to head coach Gregg Popovich, who got his 1,222nd career win as a head coach to move him past Jerry Sloan for third place on the NBA’s All-time list: “He has been a beast all year long. He anchors us at both ends of the floor. He did it last year and he is doing it this year too. He’s been fantastic.”

Lastly, Derrick White added 23 points and Marco Belinelli collected 19 points for the Spurs to win 154-147 in double overtime.

As the rematch is approaching this coming weekend, I can see that anything can really go either way for both teams. They are two of the playoff contenders in the Western Conference. I can say that this game is going to be a thriller and decisive at the same time. For me, OKC will get the victory in a very close game using their advantage at home. Check out the odds on 12BET!
