Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor August Fight is Official

It’s now on. The two greatest fighters in two different sports are going to face each other and will finally be stepping into one ring.

The five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. is going to fight the UFC superstar Conor McGregor on August 26 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mayweather made the official announcement on his social media accounts, specifically on Twitter and Instagram and confirmed that he will face McGregor in a boxing match.

UFC lightweight champion McGregor also confirmed the fight on social media by posting a side-by-side photo of him and Mayweather’s father for an early trash-talking.

Meanwhile, UFC president Dana White provided some details of the bout and he said that the Mayweather-McGregor fight will be at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will be contested at 154 pounds in a standard 12-round boxing match with 10-ounce gloves and will be air on Showtime PPV.

McGregor, who has a 21 wins and 3 loss MMA record, haven’t boxed either as an amateur or professional and he will be just making his professional boxing debut when he step on the ring. On the other end, the 40-year-old Mayweather with unbeaten 49 wins, 0 loss with 26 knockouts record, will come out of his retirement and will have the chance to finish off his career at a perfect 50-0 against the 28-year-old MMA fighter.

It is reported that both fighter could earn $100 million from the bout and if that happens, it would be one of the richest in boxing history.

Moreover, the Nevada Athletic Commission approved the request of Mayweather Promotions to put the fight on August 26 at the MGM Grand. However the venue could change to T-Mobile.
