Chris Weidman beat Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Fight Night

Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman is back.

Weidman defeated Kelvin Gastelum via third-round submission to end his last three-bout losing streak in front of his home crowd in Nassau Veterans Memerial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.

The 33-year-old former champ delivered a superb performance when he submitted Gastelum with an arm-triangle at UFC Fight Night.

Weidman almost lost the match when Gastelum’s straight left hand connected into his jaw at the end of the first round that nearly ended the fight however the champ bounced back with a victory.

“If you’re going through something, get to the other side. Believe in yourself. Screw everybody else, what their opinions are.” Weidman said immediately following the win

It was Weidman’s first victory since May 2015.

Meanwhile, despite of 1-3 record in his past four fights, Weidman (14-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC) wasted no time calling out the current champion Michael Bisping.

He had a strong message for UFC middleweight champion after his main event win.

“That British bum, who’s crying at his house right now, I’m back, baby. Stop hiding from the real men. Let’s go, baby. I’m the champion, and everybody knows it.” Weidman addressed
