The Korean Zombie Chan Sung Jung revealed through his Instagram account the real reasons why he was forced onto the sidelines and pulled out from the bout against the featherweight fighter Ricardo Lamas at UFC 214.
Jung was scheduled to face Lamas on July 29 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California but the Korean fighter has suffered a complete tear of his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL).
The 30-year-old fighter returned to action back in February and knocked out the top ranked featherweight Dennis Bermudez and won by spectacular KO in the first round of their bout in Houston.
Four years ago, Jung went to a 4th round TKO loss to Jose Aldo.
Jung, who have 14-4 record had been sideline and put a hold on his career due to series of injuries and fulfilling his mandatory military service.
Now, it’s still unclear how long Jung will be sidelined but he posted that he will return the octagon stronger.
“I am a person who can do this kind of thing at any time. I have hurt countless colleagues. So I do not blame the friend who hurt me. I know that I am not good enough. I learn a lot. And again, I realized that there are a lot of people waiting for my game. Sorry. I will get stronger and come back,” Jung posted.
Moving forward, no decision has been made yet on who Lamas will face in July as replacement for the Korean Zombie.
