It’s finally settled. The second-seeded and the reigning NBA champions Golden State Warriors set to face the seventh-seeded San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. During the regular season, the Warriors won three of the four meetings against the Spurs, including two at the Oracle Arena. Both teams knew each other very well. In fact, the Warriors defeated the Spurs in last year’s playoff in the Western Conference finals.
Golden State Warriors
Heading into Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs, Golden State has been plagued with injuries. They are currently missing their most important player in the league and they are expected to play and figure out how to win without their two-time MVP Stephen Curry, who suffered MCL sprain in his left knee. Meanwhile, Patrick McCaw continues his recovering from lumbar spine contusion and both players are expected to miss the entire first-round series.
San Antonio Spurs
On the other hand, Kawhi Leonard is also expected to miss the entire first round series with quad injury. Other than that, the Spurs closed out the regular season with a 98-122 disappointing loss to New Orleans Pelicans.
Warriors are the top favorites to win the match due to a home court advantage and despite of not having Steph on the court, the team still have plenty of firepower to play good basketball. Meanwhile, the Spurs will try to take their chance to upset the host.
