New rules in World Cup not a problem for Dele Alli

Tottenham Hotspur and England player Deli Alli claimed that he will not fall foul of the new FIFA regulations where players may potentially be sanctioned in the World Cup 2018.

The new rules, alongside with the use of VAR, would mean that match officials can be made aware of incidents that go unnoticed during the game time.

Given this, players will have to face the consequence of yellow or red cards if they are proven to have violated certain rule.

England manager Gareth Southgate conducted a meeting with his squad prior the friendly match against Nigeria. He explained the implications of the new regulation and Alli who has been accused of going to ground too eagerly and has endured disciplinary problems in the past, is confident he will avoid making similar mistakes in Russia.

In a statement, Alli said: “I’ve got everything under control.”

He received one-match ban by Fifa after an obscene gesture directed at his team mate Kyle Walked during the World Cup qualifier against Slovakia last September.

“Every game is different, and you never know what’s going to happen, but that’s not what I’m going to be worrying about. There are a lot more things I need to focus on, and put my concentration on, in a game rather than that.

“We all know football is developing, and we had a couple of games [at Tottenham] where VAR played a part, but we have to be open to change, especially in any way it can help the game as far as possible.”

England manager has also given warning to his squad, saying that they should “be vigilant in all areas of the pitch” and suggested there had been tackles in recent games “that would be pulled up and might be yellow or red cards.”
