The trade between Dallas and Brooklyn saw the comeback of one of the prolific scorers in the NBA in Spencer Dinwiddie and also saw the creation of a new NBA duo in Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. The reported deal comes just two days after Irving requested to be traded from Brooklyn ahead of the February 9 trade deadline, this is the end of a roller-coaster relationship between Irving and the Brooklyn Nets organization. Three years ago, in the 2019 offseason, after a downhill season with the Boston Celtics, Kyrie decided to take his talent with his hometown in hopes of winning an NBA championship alongside another superstar Kevin Durant. However, he was once again caught in the current of drama, a saga of toxicity – highlighted by his refusal to be vaccinated for COVID-19, causing him to miss an entire home schedule of games last season. This season, he was suspended for eight games over anti-semitic remarks in regards to his twitter post with a movie link that promotes anti-semitism.

The Veteran guard was recently selected for his eight All-Star game appearance – it is quite a huge gamble for the Dallas Mavericks organization as Kyrie Irving is known for being a locker room problem, his weird antics and beliefs, but a terrific playmaker, ball handler, and a scorer which the Dallas badly needed to pair with their main star Luka Doncic. Despite being considered as a desperate move of Dallas, this is still quite a great acquisition of talent, as the 30 year-old guard has a lot of experience that he can offer under the table, and can offer to his new team — winning an NBA Championship 2016, way back when he was in the Cleveland Cavaliers, and some solid scoring this season as he is averaging 27.1 points, 5.3 assists, and 5.1 rebounds through 40 games this season.

Many NBA insiders, players, and personalities reacted to the sudden trade news including Spencer Dinwiddie who was glad to get back on the team which gave a shot of opportunity to flourish. Many were quite happy and excited to see Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic share the floor together – now, they are the favorite to win in the stacked Western Conference division.

Irving’s former teammate and a four-time NBA Champion LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers posts a cryptic Twitter post following the news with a caption “Maybe It’s Me,” though it will indeed certainly deny it if he asked about that – it will be obvious that he was knocking himself, sarcastically blaming himself for failing to trade for Kyrie Irving to Hollywood, an epic reunion between the two former Cleveland Cavaliers star.

Whatever the meaning of LeBron’s twitter post, the reality now is that it will be the Luka-Kyrie tandem and Dallas will now be the hot team, not just in the West but in the whole NBA.
