“It’s such an emotional loss, it’s such a brutal loss,” Coach Steve Kerr said after the game. “I mean, I think probably the worst ending we’ve had since I’ve been coach.” Golden State continued their struggling season with a last-second 124-123 shocking defeat in Vivint Arena despite overcoming a nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter without the trio of Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and Steph Curry. Steve Kerr said the Warriors were ‘stunned and ‘dead silent in the locker room after the crushing defeat. Which is obviously evident after the match, added to the fact the chaos between Utah’s Jordan Clarkson and Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga.

“… There’s usually one game a year like this where you can’t believe what just happened, and I think that’s the truth,” Kerr told reporters. “But of all of those in my time [with the Warriors], that was the worst one.”

In spite of that devastating defeat, the team is still optimistic this season and looking to end this with a strong record and chemistry heading into the playoffs to repeat and defend their championship title. ‘As long as you learn from it, and it doesn’t happen, especially in a playoff game, then it’s OK. But you have to learn from it, and I think there was plenty to learn from that game.”

The Warriors completed an impressive comeback and had a 123-119 lead with 13.3 seconds left but Malik Beasley did not flare his hot shooting and sank a three-pointer with 7.8 seconds remaining. The newly acquired Alexander-Walker steals the ball from Poole then Beasley picks it up and sends it ahead to Fontecchio sprinting and dunking it to the basket for the win.

“I couldn’t imagine anything like that. Just an amazing feeling, really happy and excited the way we got there,’ said Fontecchio who finished a career-high 18 points while shooting four 3-pointers.

For Golden State, Poole scored 36 points while Kuminga scored season-high 24 points. “We were supposed to win that game. The NBA is crazy because out of 82 games, there’s always going to be a game just like that you’re just going to ask yourself, ‘What happened?’”

Both teams were missing their key players for this game. Lauri Markkanen and Mike Conley missed the action due to illness and a left-knee injury. While Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Andrew Wiggins just sat out the game.
