In a statement released, the 21 year-old said, “I am relieved that this matter is now over and I would like to thank my family, loved ones and friends for their support.

“There will be no further comment at this time.”

The 21 year-old Manchester United forward was arrested in January 2022 after a spree of allegation surrounding images and videos. He was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The Crown Prosecution Service spokesman addressed the media and said, “We have a duty to keep cases under continuous review.

“In this case a combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction. In these circumstances, we are under a duty to stop the case. We have explained our decision to all parties.”

After learning that the Prosecutions dropped the charges towards Greenwood, Manchester United will conduct its own process before determining their next process about the decision over Mason Greenwood. The ruling of the British prosecutors sparks criticism and controversy as it hampers the advocacy and the fight for equality among women, as according to Supt Michaela Kerr said that the decision has “not been taken lightly.”

She also added: “I would, however, like to use this opportunity to reiterate the force’s commitment to investigating allegations of violence against women and girls and supporting those affected, regardless, of their circumstances, throughout what can be a hard and upsetting time for them.”

“Given the significant media coverage of this case, it is only fair that we share the news that the 21 year-old man, who had been arrested and charged in connection with an investigation opened in January 2022, no longer faces criminal proceedings in relation to this,” Supt Chief Michaela Kerr told reporters.

Mason Greenwood appeared 129 times for the Red Devils, registering 35 goals, as his last appearance was January last year, against West Ham. After the charges were filed last year, the England international suffered a series of setbacks. Nike suspended and later on, terminated the sponsorship deal. The Electronics Arts confirmed in a press release the removal of Greenwood on its FIFA 22 game following his arrest last year.
