12BET (News, Football) After a long and taxing transfer saga, Paul Pogba has finally returned to Manchester United.
Pogba completed his reunion with a bang after United agreed to pay his record-breaking transfer fee. The club paid a total of €105M, not to mention the €5M added fee for performance-related bonuses. According to ESPN FC, the said fee is payable in two years.
Clearly, the transfer surpasses that of Gareth Bale’s move to Real Madrid in 2013. The Los Blancos have to pay Tottenham €100M for the Welshman’s signature.
Pogba first graced the Old Trafford in 2009 after playing for the French squad, Le Havre. Unfortunately, his opportunities to feature were limited.
In 2012, the budding Pogba went to Juventus for a mere £800,000 transfer fee.
The above-mentioned move was a turning moment for the kid who is now considered as one of the most promising footballers in this generation.
It did not take a while before Pogba proved his worth. He quickly established himself and soon, he was able to snatch a permanent spot in the club’s starting XI.
During his 178 appearances for Juventus, he delivered 34 goals. He was also a key player in helping the squad reach the 2015 Champions League final.
Pogba’s efforts at Juventus did not go unnoticed. It became his ticket in the recently concluded 2016 European Championship where his national team, France ended up as the tournament’s runner-up. He also caught the attention of other football giants such as Real Madrid, where Zinedine Zidane is said to be one of his admirer.
When asked about his returned, the French football star explained that United is a club that has a special place in his heart. He also mentioned that the perfect time for his return has finally arrived and that his beloved mother told him that going back to Old Trafford is his destiny.
Pogba is Jose Mourinho’s fourth signing this season along with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Mourinho has openly described him as the heart of the club in the years to come.
