LeBron James delivered another incredible show against his former team Cleveland Cavaliers despite the absence of his superstar duo Anthony Davis and shown no signs of slowing down silencing his doubters in helping the Lakers team get its victory as he made 31 points and 8 assists passing through the Pistons’ basketball legend Isiah Thomas being eight on the NBA’s All-Time Assist leaders list with 9,067 made.
So far, James leads this season averaging 10.7 assists per game being mostly responsible for facilitating plays and finding the open shooters for the Lakers team placing them at the top spot from the western conference with 33 wins and 7 losses as they currently run a 9-game winning streak.
From the post-game interview, James sends high regard to their big men covering the team’s need without AD from both ends on the floor, also mentioning Jared Dudley and Troy Daniels that stepped up into action when they were needed.
Alex Caruso was also a word from his mouth getting praise with the help he gives for the Lakers, as James mentions, “Pretty much every time he’s in the game he’s a plus guy. He just does so much,” “Sometimes it shows up in the box score, sometimes it don’t, but he’s just always a plus guy. He’s going to defend at a high level, he’s going to get guys involved. He’s very smart, very tough. To have him on this ball club, it’s a luxury.” He added.
Another feat claimed by LeBron, he talked about passing the leader of the Bad Boys basketball legend, “One of the best point guards this game has ever seen. And one of the toughest as well. Just his upbringing, coming from Chicago, doing the things he was able to do on the floor. From Indiana going to the Bad Boys in Detroit, just setting the tone for what he wanted his career to be…Anytime I’m linked with the greats, and ‘Zeke being one of those, it’s just an honor, and I think back to my childhood and where I’m from.”
The hall of famer responded congratulating LeBron passing him via twitter as he tweeted, Congratulations to @kingjames for passing my @NBA assist record. What an amazing accomplishment! Celebrate this milestone with your player owned @TheNBPA @cheurlin1788 champagne! #youearnedit #champion @NBATV”
The Lakers’ star now sits at the eight spot from the all-time assists list just below Oklahoma City Thunder guard and good friend Chris Paul which would require a lot more passes to surpass or get close to Paul’s seventh spot.
