Serie A giants Juventus, are looking to cut ties with star forward Cristiano Ronaldo next summer, as concerns grow about his huge pay and is no longer affordable by the Italian side.
The 35-year-old joined the club two years ago from Real Madrid with a deal worth €100 million and signed a contract that earns him a whopping €31m per season at Juve, and according to a report by Spanish publication Sport, Juventus are in discussion upon willing to take offers as early as next summer, rather than giving him an extension to his deal that expires in the summer of 2022.
The Portugese star has been an influential figure for the club since his arrival, and even though he is expected to be in the ‘back end of their playing days’, Ronaldo remains consistent on the pitch and just became Europe’s top scorer for 2020 after finding the back of the net against Lazio over the weekend, but club officials believe that club has not reached the next level with him.
Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo doesn’t appear to be consistently happy with the output of his forward line despite Ronaldo hitting the net on Saturday that ended as a draw with Lazio, having slammed his strikers for being “selfish” in their recent Champions League tie with Ferencvaros.
“I talk to my players a lot, but they make the choices when they are on the pitch. They could’ve been less egotistical and killed off the game earlier,” Pirlo said of his team, despite them emerging from the game with a 4-1 away win.
“We are playing with two forwards plus two wide men. Once we get everyone in shape, we can evaluate who to use together. So far, not everyone has been at 100 percent, so it’s been normal to rotate them and leave one out.”
Pirlo had also confirmed Ronaldo’s status as he picked up an ankle injury on its recent fixture, seen being removed from the game with a quarter of an hour left after he gave his side the first-half lead. The Portuguese star was later along in the stands with an ice-pack strapped to his ankle.
In addition to Juventus’ concern is that Ronaldo could not prevent their exit from the last-16 against Lyon has left some in Turin feeling frustrated. you also can take a look at our latest football news about Barcelona confirms teenage prodigy Ansu Fati is out for 4 months here!
Since Juventus believe that it would remain in the same spot even without Ronaldo, they are considering letting him go in the summer to help balance the books.
